网友的意思是指“附加疑问句”吧。何止如此，在同一个句子中，都可以使用第三人称代词，复数或单数均可。例如：

Everyone has to do something himself and make his own living, but sometimes he can't.
Everyone has to do something themselves and make their own living, but sometimes they can't.

用复数 they, them, their, themselves ，避免了 his 和 her 的纠葛。比如第一句，你用了 his，为何不用 her？所以，女同胞就不愿意了，有点大男子主义了。语言也要受时代的制约，女权运动曾提出这里应废弃 he/his/himsef  的用法，一律使用没有性别的复数形式。
