两个中的一个和另一个可以用one…one…表示吗
我原来知道的知识是：当要表示两个的一个和另一个时，我们总是用 one 指其中的一个，用 the other 指其中的另外一个。如：
He held a book in one hand and his notes in the other. 他一手拿着书，一手拿着笔记。
I have two brothers—one is married and the other is unmarried. 我有两个兄弟，一个结了婚，一个还是单身。
但是，看到这样一个句子：
There I saw two girls, one is tall and one is short. 在那里我看到两个女孩，一个高，一个矮。
请问这个句子也对吗？

薄冰教授在《英语惯用法词典》中指出：one ... one 在口语里有时表示 one ... the other 的意思。例如：
Brooks will give two lectures—one of criminology and one of the family. 布鲁克斯将作两次学术报告：一次是关于犯罪学，另一次是关于家庭问题。
Two of the accused, one American and one Japanese, had been allowed pretrial bail. 两名被告，一名美国人，一名日本人，公审前获准审判前保释。
所以，在口语中可以说：There I saw two girls, one is tall and one is short. 但是，在考试中，最好用：There I saw two girls, one is tall and the other is short.
