有些词典认为 provide sb sth.是错误的。例如：

    牢记 provide someone with something 这个短语中要用介词 with 。

    Could you provide us with a list of hotels in the area ?你能给我提供一份该地区的旅馆名单吗？ 

    Could you provide us a list of hotels in the area ? （错误的用法）

    但是，很多词典均有 provide sth. to sb 的例句：

    The goal is to provide health care to / for as many people as as possible.

目标是为尽可能多的人提供医疗保健服务。（摘自《韦氏高阶英汉双解词典》）   

    We provide legal advice and services to our clients. 我们向客户提供法律建议和服务。（摘自《麦克米伦高阶英汉双解词典》）

     provides sb with sth =  provides sth for sb 直接翻译成“向（或：给/为）某人提供某物” 或者“把某物提供给某人”即可。

不可以按“用”去理解。provide someone 加上with something才使得动词的意义完整。
