that 是个“替代词”，为了避免重复，而使用它替代前文的名词。碰巧，网友这两个句子，一个用了替代词 that，一个没用。 这样，我们可以把这两句变成四句：

【几个注意的问题】

1. 以上两句不是比较级，而是倍数表达法。倍数对应的成分是 the growth rate。这就是不加介词的根本原因。

2. 表示倍数时，两倍用 twice/double, 三倍及三倍以上用“基数词 + times”表示。

结构： “倍数 + the size of...” 表达法。

用法与 size 相同的名词，常见的有 weight（重量），height(高度）,depth（深度），width (宽度）,age（年龄）,length（长度），speed（速度），rate （比率）等。例如：

I am more than twice his age.  我的年龄是他的两倍多。
