请专家老师解释一下，这里为什么用 where 来引导定语从句，而不用 when？难道时间名词后面也可以用 where 来引导定语从句吗？

一般来说，where 引导的定语从句总是修饰表示“地方，地点”的先行词，但有时 where 引导的定语从句也用来修饰不是表示“地方，地点”的先行词，作用上相当于 in which, on which, at which 等，但语义却不相同。这种用法，有人认为是古英语，其实不然，现代英国英语和美国英语都还在使用这种用法。如：

I've had several instance where dogs have made me jump fences.

I'm past the age where I expect to be made headmaster - or principal.

Have you ever dreamed of a holiday where everyone in the family was happy?
