act as 后面的可数名词单数形式前面可以用不定冠词，也可以不用。例如：

He was asked to act as an adviser on the project. 他被邀担任项目顾问。（《剑桥中阶英汉双解词典》）

He acted as a simultaneous interpreter at the confrence. 他在会议上担任同声传译。（《外研社英汉多功能词典》)

act as 的基本意思是“担任”“充当”“起……的作用”。如：

Praise act as an encouragement to the young. 表扬对于青年可起鼓舞作用。

The forest will act as a defense against desert dust. 森林能起防御沙漠灰沙的作用。

A trained dog can act as a guide to a blind person. 经过训练的狗可以担任盲人的向导。

如果表示担任独一无二的职务，其前通常不用冠词。如：

He acts as director of the workshop. 他担任车间主任。

He acted as manager in my absence. 我不在时他担任经理。

I don’t understand their language; you’ll have to act as interpreter. 我不懂他们的语言，你得当翻译了。

所以你的句子通常是不用冠词的，即通常是用 act as interpreter。

两位老师都归纳的很好，act as 后接可数名词单数，冠词可有可无。但 act as 表“充当，担任”时，不加冠词的情况似乎更多见，而表“起......作用”时，加冠词情况更多见。请看张道真《英语常用动词用法词典》上的几个例句：

He acted as secretary to the board. 他充任委员会的秘书。

I'll act as interpreter. 我来当翻译。

Who acted as chairman in his absence? 他不在时谁做主席？

An oar often acts as rudder. 浆常常可以起舵的作用。
