most=very; 或most=最高级。

因此，上句是否可以有2种理解？  即：

    (a)  Isn't she the very beautiful woman ?   (非常漂亮...)

或 (b)  Isn't she the most beautiful woman ? (最漂亮...)

但是，有人说 (a)  Isn't she the very beautiful woman ?   (非常漂亮...)中的the必须改为a,即 Isn't she a very beautiful woman ?

我认为 (a)  Isn't she the very beautiful woman ? 用the也是正确的。

不知道老师认同吗？

另外He was the most generous of men.  为什么会有一个of？ 为什么不说He was the most generous man 呢？

这句中的most可否作very或最高级来理解呢？

书上说，现在有一种趋势，使用带定冠词的most来进行加强，例如：

Isn't she the most beautiful woman ? 这句话=Isn't she a very beautiful woman ?

书上没有讲为什么不可以按照最高级来理解？我很困惑。
