真实条件句中，如果if从句和主句都表示习惯意义，而不是一次性动作，则从句和主句都用一般现在时或一般过去时。此时的if大约等于whenever. 例如：

If he got up late, he took a taxi to school.

Whenever he got up late, he took a taxi to school.

以上二个条件句中，主句也可以分别用will和would，但并不表示将来，而还是表示习惯意义。will和would分别表示现在的习惯和过去的习惯，是will和would表示预测意义引申而来的用法。

本句并非表示一次性事件，而是表示习惯意义。if在此大约等于whenever：
