关于高考题中是否可用that用作关系副词替代when的争议
The film brought the hours back to me ________ I was taken good care of in that faraway village.
A．when
B．that
这是一道高考题（全国高考，01-22）
答案A.when固然正确。
但B. that 为什么不可以呢？ that也可以用作关系副词替代why,when,where等呀。
that代替关系副词
that可以用于表示时间、地点、方式、理由的名词后取代when, where, why和"介词+ which"引导的定语从 句，在非正式文体中that常被省略（正式文体中不可省略），例如：
His father died the year (that / when / on which) he was born.
他父亲在他出生那年逝世了。
He is unlikely to find the place (that / where / in which) he lived forty years ago.
所以，我个人认为B.that也是正确的，或省略=即The film brought the hours back to me I was taken good care of in that faraway village.也是正确的，对吗?
因为在非正式文体中that常被省略（正式文体中不可省略）。

1. 笼统的说法是在非正式文体中，that可以替代关副when, why，how等词或省略；
2. 确切（常见）的说法是在口语中，that可以替代关副whe, why, how等词或省略；
从1和2可知，规范的写作中，不会用that来替代。高考考的就是高中程度的规范英文，否则，考试就没法进行了。
补充：
只有在the place之后的where才可用that代替或省略。试比较（绿色句可替代，可省略，红色句不可替代，不可省略）：
This is the place （where）we used to live.
=This is the place that we used to live.
= this is the place at which we used to live.
This is the house where I live.
=This is the house in which I live
=This is the house which I live in
个人建议：
你如果是刷高考题、中考题应付考试，你就得用课本上的语法评判标准，在考纲的范围内来思考题目的答案。不要有“博览全书”的想法，否则即使你是对的，也叫“超纲”。要么，你就得抛开真题、抛开课本，多听（外台+美/英剧）+ 多看（广泛阅读原版文章），切实提高自己的英文实力，自然可以广泛参考各类辞书。否则，除了自寻烦恼、徒增痛苦，还于事无补。
