1 on something to do with 用法

Woman: Well, I just got here a few minutes ago, haven’t been in for a couple of days. Uh, just give me a second to check my email. Uh, here’s a message from Max. Let’ see. Well, it seems you’ve really impressed him. He says it’d be wonderful if you could join our staff.

Man: Oh, great! When can I start?

Woman: Well, you turned in an outline on something to do with the Physics Department?

Man: Yeah. They’re trying to come up with ways to get more students to take their introductory courses.

请问老师,这里的on something to do with是什么意思?

我的理解是on something to do with是 have/has/be something to do with的变体。

you turned in an outline on something to do with the Physics Department?等价于

you turned in an outline on something which is somehing to do with the Physics Department.请问老师,还有更好的理解方式吗?

(chiefly British) be to do with

: to relate to (something) : to be about (something)

  • The problem has to do with fishing rights. = (chiefly Brit) The problem is to do with fishing rights.

作定语时,省去be, 则 something to do with Mr. X = something related to Mr X /something about Mr X.
