不在同一句可以用替代词ones吗
To make our life easier and the environment more beautiful, I have designed a pair of magic shoes. Compared to the traditional ones, they have three new unique functions.
在 Compared to the traditional ones 中，ones 显然是指 shoes，但由于它与 shoes 不在同一个句子，这样的替代也可以吗？谢谢！

Compared to the traditional ones, they havethree new unique functions. 中，Compared to thetraditional ones 与前面的句子是两个独立的句子，ones 虽然是指shoes，但它与 shoes 不在同一个句子中，于是网友 010text提出疑问“这样的替代也可以吗？”——回答是肯定的，这样的替代完全可以。这样的用法很普遍的：
These are the old classrooms. Those are the new ones. 这些是旧教室。那些是新的。
Those shoes are too small. We must buy somenew ones. 那些鞋太小了，我们得买几双新的。

当然是可以的，事实上还不仅如此，上下文所涉及的名词的数有时也不相同。
▲ 我们先从一道高考题谈起吧：
Few pleasures can equal ______of a cooldrink on a hot day.
A. some B. any C. that D. those (全国高考-1999-17)
本题答案 C。许多同学误选了 D。因为他们认为代替上文的 pleasures, 当然应该用 those 啦。殊不知这里需要替代的不是pleasures, 而是 the pleasure.
▲ 注意：英语中时常会出现替代词与被替代词在数上不一致的情况，此时替代词的数不是由被替代词决定的，而是由替代词所在意群中实际意义的数所决定。
Few pleasures can equal that of a cool drink on a hot day.(全国高考-1999-17)
这里 that 不能换为 those, 因为替代词在 of a cool drink on a hot day（大热天喝冷饮所带来的特有的一种快感） 这一意群中的意义为单数，即 that 替代的为 the pleasure, 而非 the pleasures.
再例：one 作为替代词也一样：
The clean towels are in the drawer--if you need one.
注意 one 这里不能用 ones, 因为在其所在意群中（需要一条毛巾）的意义为单数，即 one 所替代的为 a clean towel。
