请问that可以删掉吗？

我觉得，that 应该是替代number 的意思。如果是，that 则不能省略。参与比较的两个成分是here 和elsewhere。语境应为这样的：

Today there are 156 unicorns (here), and (the number) is slightly more than that elsewhere.

今天这里有156只独角兽，数量略多于其他地方。
