1 首先，汉语“习俗...举行”就不搭配，然后你根据汉语“举行”用了held. 英文hold 和 custom还是不搭配的。这是主要的用词错误。《朗文》词典通常会告诉你名词和动词、形容词的常用搭配关系。to follow/observe a custom.

2 120年前应该是19世纪。

3 最好用 It is 120 years since...结构。最好用非延续动词作since从句的谓语。

It is 120 years since this custom began to be followed/observed in local villages in the late 19^th century.

我觉得如果不是严格的翻译考试的话，这个大意可以这样表达。

It has been 120 years since the inception of this custom in local village in xxxx（如果到现在是120年的话，我觉得应该是19世纪）
