(1)wear thin磨损;用旧

Your horse needs new shoes if the shoe has worn thin or smooth. 如果马掌磨薄或磨平，就需要换新马掌了。

(2)wear thin（耐心等）逐渐消失

Her husband was sympathetic at first but his patience soon wore thin.
