so that 既可引导目的状语从句，也可引导结果状语从句。如：

(1) 引导目的状语从句

Bring it closer so that I may see it better. 把它拿近点儿，让我仔细看看。

He studies hard so that he can pass the exam. 为了能通过考试，他学习很努。

I am going to the lecture early so that I’ll get a good seat. 我想早点去听演讲，以便找个好座位。

She worked hard so that everything would be ready by 6 o’clock. 她拼命干以便能到6点时把一切都准备好。

(2) 引导结果状语从句（前面有时可以用逗号）

We’re all here now, so that the meeting can begin at last. 我们现在都到齐了，终于能开会了。

I went to the lecture early so that I got a good seat. 我去听演讲去得很早，所以找个好座位。

Nothing more was heard from him so that we begun to wonder if he was dead. 再也没有听到他的消息，因此我们有些怀疑他们是否死了。

The term and condition are printed in very small letter so that they are difficult to read. 条款与条件是用很小的字体印刷的，以致难以阅读。
