除了把 although 误拼为 also 外，这个句子还有一个错误，就是：应把Ghostwriter 改为动名词 Ghostwriting。前者是“人”，后者是“现象”。“代笔人” 不可能happen，只有“代笔现象” 可以happen。修改并翻译如下：

Ghostwriting can happen for a number of reasons, and although its merits are debatable, it remains an acceptable practice in the publishing world.

【翻译】代笔的出现有多种原因，尽管其优点值得商榷，但在出版界，它仍然是一种可以接受的做法。

确实如网友所推断的，这里应该有一个引导让步状语从句的连词although。估计这个句子是某个人根据语音资料听写出来的，误将although 听成了 also, 结果导致句子结构和逻辑混乱。应该用although 替换 also。
