补充：正因为 better to do sth 是用于作比较（即其中的 better 是比较级），所以它可以与 than 连用。如：

Better to stay at school than (to) go home. 待在学校比回家更好。

Better to ask the way than go astray. 问路总比迷路好。

Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven. (谚)宁在地狱为王，不在天堂为臣。（宁为鸡口，毋为牛后。）

但是 better do sth 中的 better 不含比较意味，所以它不与 than 连用。
