But和except 的用法

But作介词的时候可以加doing吗？比如he isn't doing his work but playing对吗？

另外就是he didn't enjoy the show but enjoying his homework.对吗？

but和except 是不是特殊的介词呀？

你自己造的句子吧。你误解了but作介词时的意义。but做介词意为“除了”，而不是“但是”。你的句子是错句。

but和expect做介词都是“除了”的意思，如果后接动词，要用不定式，不用动名词。如果介词前有实意动词do出现，则不定式通常不带to. 例如：

He could do nothing but/except wait.

He had no choice but/except to wait.
