【答】things 指事物发展的“情况；情形；形势”。它跟for the motor trade 当然有关系，说明是“汽车行业方面的情况”。如果把for the motor trade 用在things 之后，即：things for the motor trade，那么,for the motor trade 就是作定语。但本句是用在look up（好转）之后，说明它修饰谓语动词，作方面状语。

此外，things 是复数，不能用it 指代。
