while和although的区别问题

You can have a pizza, while your friends enjoy Japanese, Chinese or even a burger.

老师，这里while是连词虽然的意思，但是为什么although和though，不可以填在这里？

网友对while 的用法，还没把握。我来告诉你：

1. while 放在句首表示“让步”，是从属连词，引导让步状语从句。意思跟though, although 相当，意为“虽然；尽管”。

例如：

While the numbers of such developments are relatively small, the potential market is large.

尽管这种增长的数量相对较小，但是潜在的市场是巨大的。

While the modelling business is by no means easy to get into, the good model, male or female, will always be in demand.

尽管模特行业绝不是那么容易进入的，但是好的模特，不论男女，总是需要的。

2. while 放在第2分句前，用作并列连词，引导并列分句，表示“对比”。意为“然而，但是”，不是“虽然”。所以，网友的句子不能换为though, although。

例如：

Marianne was tempted to turn the large rooms into traditional French-style salons, while Howard was in favour of a typically English look.

玛丽安娜想把这些大房间弄成传统法式客厅的样子，但是霍华德喜欢典型的英式风格。

The first two services are free, while the third costs £35.00.

while可以作为2种不同连词来引导分句

(1)作为从属连词引导时间状语从句，让步状语从句

A:时间状语从句“当...时候，在...期间”

I sat on the settee to unwrap the package while he stood by.

我坐在长椅上打开包裹时他就站在旁边。

B:引导让步状语从句“虽然，尽管”可以用though/although替换
