有关most recent与most recently的疑问

形容词recent（最近的）和副词recently（最近）都含有“最”的意味，它们可以与 most（最）连用吗？按理说应该是可以的，但却遇到这样一句：

In the most recent attack one man was shot dead and two others were wounded. 在最近的一次袭击中，一名男子遇袭身亡，另外两人受伤。

这里的 most recent 属正常用法吗？另外，most recently 呢？

1. 这里的 the most recent 以加强语意，这样用是正常的。下列例句均来自于《柯林斯高阶英汉双解学习词典》：

The most recent tenants hadn't even cut the grass. 上一拨房客连草都没有修剪。

Foote's most recent play, "Dividingthe Estate," is an ensemble piece. 福特的最新戏剧《分房产》是个合演剧目。

He was the most junior and most recent arrivalat the embassy. 在大使馆里，他是职位最低也是入职最晚的一位。

The most recent polls predict a tightthree-way race. 最近的调查显示，这将是一场三方激烈角逐的比赛。

2. most recently“最近”用作状语(网络上常见)，但 recently 被 very, fairly, quite 等修饰似乎更常见一些。如：

Most recently he represented the Dalai Lamain Europe. 最近他在欧洲代表达赖喇嘛。（美国之音）

I did not know it until quite recently. 我一直到最近才知道这件事。《21世纪英汉汉英双向词典》
