fame, honour, reputation, glory, renown这些名词均有“名声，名誉”之意。

(1)fame 普通用词，含义广，一般指好名声，可大可小，可远可近。

(2)honour 侧重指因高尚的举止，忠心或诚实而受到公众钦佩和崇敬，得到好名声和荣誉。

(a)正义感;道义;气节

The officers died faithful to Poland and to the honour of a soldier.

这些军官至死都忠于波兰，坚守了军人气节。

I do not believe I can any longer serve with honour as a member of your government. 

我认为自己再也无法问心无愧地在你的政府中任职

(b)荣誉;特殊奖励

Most of the high honours usually go to long-serving MPs loyal to the government.

He was showered with honours—among them an Oscar.

(c)n.荣幸;光荣;殊荣
