及物动词find 可以接复合宾语，宾补可以由介词短语充当，例如：

When he woke up, he found himself in the hospital. 当他醒来时，他发现自己在医院里。

根据句意和结构，Beneath the overturned car they found him with a broken left leg.  这个句子，with a broken left leg 是found 的宾语补足语，补足说明him 被发现怎样。跟上句是同一个结构类型，不是伴随状语。

【注意】作状语的介词短语，其句中位置是相对灵活的，例如：

I visited him in the hospital. = In the hospital I visited him.

但是，我们不可以说：In the hospital, he found himself. 

这恰恰说明，宾补的位置是比较固定的。
