The old man asked Tom his name and where he lived.

请问这个句子对吗？是不是应该改为：

The old man asked Tom what his name was and where he lived.

改不改都可以。问某人的名字时，完全可以用 ask sb his / her name 的。又如：

I asked him his name, but he didn’t respond. 我问他叫什么名字，可他没回答。
