as if to do sth 与 as if doing sth 的区别

我选B的理由是这个人当时正在查看是否走对了方向，所以用现在分词

而看到答案之后我知道答案选A的理由是因为不定式表目的，可现在分词为什么不对？

将as if to do, as if doing看作状语从句省略了与主句相同的主语和be,更能看出从句中的虚拟语气。

He opened his mouth as if (he were) to say something. were to do表示将来。

He stood there as if (he were) waiting for someone. were doing表示进行体。

此人停了下来，看上去像是要弄清楚是否走对了路。停下来时的样子，还没弄清楚，即弄清楚是将要发生的将来事件。故用as if (he were) to see (find out) whether...

as if 后面接不定式或现在分词都可以，其区别是：用不定式含有目的意味，用现在分词表示时进行意味。比较：

He raised his hand as if to strike me. 他举起手好像要打我。

He sat there as if reading a newspaper. 他坐在那儿好像是在看报纸。
