表示做某事做得快，不能用 be fast 后接不定式或现在分词，要将 fast 用作副词。如：

He runs fast.(不能说：He is fast to run / running.)

He speaks fast.(不能说：He is fast to speak / speaking.)

He works fast.(不能说：He is fast to work / working.)

若表示正在发生某情况，可用 be fast doing sth（用现在分词，不用不定式）。如：

These beautiful birds are fast disappearing. 这些漂亮的鸟快要灭绝了。

He is fast getting a reputation as a young punk. 他很快得了个小阿飞的称号。

Barnes also knows that he is fast running out of time. 巴恩斯也知道他的时间很快就要用完了。
