连词and与but有什么区别

I like bananas, but I like oranges, too.

教辅翻译：我喜欢香蕉，可我也喜欢柑橘。为什么这里不用 and, 表示：我喜欢香蕉，并且我也喜欢柑橘。而要用 but, 这里有转折的意思吗？不是并列的意思吗？

你的句子用 and, but 都可以，但有细微区别：

I like bananas, but I like oranges, too. 我喜欢香蕉，可我也喜欢柑橘。

I like bananas, and I like oranges, too. 我喜欢香蕉，并且也喜欢柑橘。

用 but 时，暗示“你不要以为我只喜欢香蕉”，而用 and 则没有这种意味。

其实，and也可以表示转折意义的。

1.当and连接两个分句的时候，如果第二个分句从第一个分句的角度看起来是出人意料的，那么第一个分句表示“让步”。例如：

He was unwilling, and (= and yet = but) he did it as told to. 虽然他很不情愿，但他还是按照告诉他的去做了。

2.当and连接两个分句时，第二个分句也可表“让步”。例如：

I can't reach the bottle, and (= though) I have tried several times. 虽然我试了几次，但我就是够不着那个瓶子。

▲ and的用法是很灵活的。例如：

Father read for an hour, and (then) he went to bed. 父亲读了一小时的书，然后就去睡了。（表“先后”）

I fell off the ladder and (therefore) broke my leg. 我摔下了梯子，腿骨折了。（表“结果”）

Jack is clever and (= while) Jane is dull. 杰克很聪明，而简却很愚笨。（表“对照”）

Work hard, and you will pass your examinations. 你若用功，考试就能及格。（前一分句表“条件”）
