做这道题目，我觉得必须要看主句，即什么是教授的thesis，教授的观点是病人要比症状更多（我这翻译真粗糙，捂脸），所以我觉得这是个正向的观点，是值得被肯定的，虽然不新颖，但还是罕见的得到了跟他同样优秀人的支持。

例句：They battled against other Indian tribes, but rarely fought with the whites...他们同其他印第安部落作战，但很少与白人并肩对敌。这个句子中rarely就被译为了not的意思。

rarely还有更清楚的理解嘛？我总觉得应该有两种区别比较明显的用法

再比如，i rarely support you. 在没有其他语境的条件下，是不是既能理解为我几乎没支持过你，也能理解为我这次罕见的支持了你，虽然在英文里面，核心意思是not often，但是放在语境里，可以有两个截然不同的语义走向？
