on weekends 与 on the weekend 没什么区别，通常可互换，均表示“在周末”，但要注意，用复数时不用冠词，用冠词时不用复数；至于 next weekend，它的意思是“下个周末”。与前面两个短语的意思完全不同。

1. weekend指“周末”，在5天工作制的国家，指星期六和星期日；在6天工作制的国家，指星期日，与weekday（周日）相对，为可数名词。如：
