这两个句子不大像是出自说母语者之口。正常的表达应该用when引导从句。got close没有用进行体，when本身就表示二个动作是紧密衔接的。即when从句的动作在先，紧接着主句的动作发生。比after更准确。immediately after不如一个when简洁。
也许网友想表达的是，主句和从句动作之间有一定的时间差，因此用after引导从句？
网友其实只要知道as soon as, hardly/scarcely...when/before/than...意为only just a moment later, 强调从句动作和主句动词的紧密衔接就够了。没必要设计这几个句子来检验。另外，网友自己是如何理解这几个句子中从句和主句动作的时间差呢？

表示“一……就……”的从属连词：as soon as, the moment/minute/second/instant;no sooner... than, scarcely... when/before, hardly...when, directly, immediately, instantly, once
这些从属连词引导的从句都表示从句的动作与主句的动作同时发生，表示“一……就……”，当主句是一般将来时时，状语从句用一般时态代替将来时态。
The moment I got home, I found I had left my jacket on the playground.我刚一到家就发觉自己把夹克衫掉在操场上了。
注意：no sooner...than，hardly/scarcely...when这一结构中，no sooner与hardly/scarcely所在的主句谓语动词应用过去完成时，而than与when引导的状语从句谓语动词应用一般过去时。此外，当把no sooner和hardly/scarcely提到句首时，主句应该用倒装语序。
