英语中，“倍数”twice, three times, four times, five times ...等，除了用在比较结构as...as...和 more...than... 之前外，还可以直接用在表示“量概念”的名词前，说明“前者是后者的几倍”。例如：注意红色的表示“量”概念的单词。

five times the original estimate，是最初估算的五倍

five times the size，五倍大的体积

five times the height，五倍高

five times the length，五倍长

five times the width，五倍宽

five times the speed, 五倍的速度

five times the output, 五倍的产量

five times the weight, 五倍重

five times the amount, 五倍的量

five times the quantity, 五倍的量

例如：

The aeroplane will travel at twice the speed of sound. 这架飞机的速度将是音速的两倍。

That man is twice my weight. 那个男子的体重比我重一倍。

One month later, we will receive an order for the same product, but three times the quantity. 但一个月后，我们又接到同样的订单，而且要原来三倍的量。

Our school is three times the size of yours. 我们学校有你们学校的三倍大。

The output is now six times what it was before liberation. 现在的产量是解放前的六倍。
