为不可数名词，不可以加不定冠词

pay 不可数名词工资；薪水 Your pay is the money that you get from your employer as wages or salary

their complaints about their pay and conditions. 

他们对薪水和工作条件的不满

the workers' demand for a twenty per cent pay rise. 

They are on strike for higher pay

他们举行了罢工要求提高工资

   英语中有些不可数名词，永远不可以连用不定冠词（不管它的前面是否有描绘性形容词修饰），除了pay,advice,weather外，还有 news(新闻，消息), work(工作), progress （进步）等。
