这个句子中的 that 相当于 so that 吗？

是的，这里的 that 就是 so that 的省略。又如：

Bring it closer (so) that I might see it better. 拿近些，使我能看得清楚些。

He started early (so) that he might catch the first train. 他出发早为的是要赶上第一班火车。

1.so...that在引导结果状语从句时既可以省略so也可以省略that。如：

He had got criticized that he was depressed? 他挨了批，所以他很郁闷。

It was so cold I could hardly keep still. 天气太冷，我无法保持不动。

2.so that在引导目的状语从句时也可以省略so或that（多用于口语），且从句中常带有情态动词。如：

Bring it closer that I might see it better. 拿近些，以便我能看得清楚些。

I’ll give him a map so he won’t get lost. 我会给他一张地图免得他迷路。
