You use on the beach when thinking of the beach as a surface:

把沙滩看作是一个表面时，用on the beach.

I just wanted to lie on the beach and read a book.

We played volleyball on the beach.

You use at the beach when thinking of the beach as a place:

把沙滩看作是一个地点时，用at the beach.

The kids are at the beach.

We spent the day at the beach.

You can go swimming at the beach.

There is a café at the beach.

因此，不能说lie at the beach and read a book. 也不能说go swimming on the beach. 这是两个极端。当一个句子中将beach看作表面和地点都能讲得通的时候，用on和at都可以。因此以下两句都可以说：

We had a barbecue on the beach last week.

We had a barbecue at the beach last week.

B:上岸
