有没有be opposite to 这种用法

有没有 be opposite to 这种用法？还是任何时候都不能加 to?

英语完全可以说 be opposite to，此时的opposite是形容词。如：

Light is opposite to shadow. 光与暗是相反的。

His house is opposite to mine. 他的房子在我的房子对面。

In fact everything he does is opposite to what is considered normal behaviour. 事实上，他的一切作为都和人们所认为的正常举动大相径庭。
