a lock of his own hair：宾语

warming in his father's hand：现在分词短语作宾语补足语

为了突出强调宾语，将宾语移至句末信息中心位置。

a lock：一簇，一束，一缕。

warm 此处为 vi. 变暖。也可理解 warming 为形容词。

David is surprised to find, warming in his father's palm, a lock of his own hair.

译文：

大卫惊讶地发现，他自己的一缕头发已被父亲的手掌暖热了。

warming in his father's palm前后用逗号隔开，提示宾语在后，宾补插入宾语之前。
