be essential to 中的 to 为介词，后接动词时，必须用动名词。不要误认为这个 to 是不定式符号而后接动词原形。如：

Repatriation of refugees is essential to rebuilding the country. 难民的遣返对国家的重建非常重要。

The agreement is essential to spurring economic growth around the world. 这项协议对于促进世界经济的增长是至关重要的。

Students find networking essential to finding the right job. 学生们发现要找到一份合适的工作，相互进行沟通是必不可少的。

to 是介词，对……来说。介词后接名词或动名词。这里不是不定式！

因为在be essential to 形容词短语中，to 为介词标志，因此后面动词必须使用“动名词形式”所以，动词become必须变成动名词形式 becoming
