be responsible for与be made responsible for的用法

After the Houses of Parliament were burnt down in 1834, Sir Benjamin Hall was made responsible for the construction of huge clock,which became known as Big Ben.
1. be responsible for 意为：为……负责，而句中 was made responsible for, 加入了made，该如何理解呢？
2. 关于表示“巨大的”huge 和 immense 有什么区别？

1：这换成主动语态就是 make sb adj 的用法，意为“使某人成为某种状态”，所以这里的意思就是使 Sir Benjamin Hall 进入了 responsible for ……的状态，也就是 Sir Benjamin Hall 被命令负责修建大笨钟。
2：huge多用于体积，意思是大的，有时也用于抽象概念，而immense表示非常大，大到几乎没有边界的，多用于抽象概念。
