not only…but also…的用法我比较熟悉。如：

They not only printed my letter but they paid me 5 pounds. 他们不仅把我的信印出来，而且还付给我5英镑。

She not only wrote the text but also researched the photographs. 她不仅写了文章而且仔细研究了照片。

He not only read the book, but also remembered what he read. 他不仅读过这本书，还记得内容。

但如果要表示“不仅没 / 不……而且……”这样的意思呢？如何用 not only…but also…来表示？比如：老师不仅得不到尊重，而且工资很低。

这类表达不必非用倒装句不可，那样限制太大。直接使用以下形式即可：

not only do not (don’t)

not only does not (doesn’t)

not only did not (didn’t)

not only can not (can’t)

not only is (are/was/were) not

刚才的句子，可以直接翻译为：

Teachers not only had no respect, but also had very low wages.

Teachers not only could not get any respect, but also got badly paid.

【说明】该句不宜使用现在时，建议改用过去时态！时代变迁了，辛勤的园丁们越来越受到社会的尊重，待遇也在不断提高！若再使用现在时态，那就不合适了。
