有这样一组同义句:
I took him to be the manager.
= I took it that he was the manager.
在后面一句中为什么要用it呢?这个it可以去掉吗?换句话说,take后面可以直接跟that引导的宾语从句吗?谢谢!
在下面这组同义句中:
I took him to be the manager.
= I took it that he was the manager.
take表示“认为”“以为”,它通常用于 take sb / sth to be…这样的句子。又如:
I took her to be his daughter. 我以为她是他的女儿。
I took you to be an honest man. 我原以为你是诚实的人。
I took the man with him to be his father. 我以为同他在一起的那个男子是他的父亲。
用于此义的 take 后面不能接 that 引导的宾语从句(跟 think 等不一样),若一定要接that 从句,则习惯上要在 that 从句前加上 it(即这个it是强制性的,不是可有可无的)。如以上各句也换成:
I took it that she was his daughter. 我以为她是他的女儿。
I took it that you were an honest man. 我原以为你是诚实的人。
I took it that the man with him was his father. 我以为同他在一起的那个男子是他的父亲。

非常感谢陈老师的详细解答!bianjihanshu老师的补充也非常实用,尤其是可以帮助记忆(可以一次记住多个句型)。但是有一个疑问想请教一下bianjihanshu老师,您说的“如果表示喜怒哀乐的词比如 hate, like, appreciate 等词后接宾语从句时,要用 it 作形式宾语”,是指下面这类句子吧:
I hate it if he calls Mr Fat.
He likes it when his girlfriend kisses him.
I’d appreciate it if you could help me do the work.
但是,我觉得这类句子中的 if-从句和when-从句并不像是宾语从句,而像是状语从句,因为这里的if表示“是否”,when表示“当……的时候”。
