▲用作动词
1. 表示“表达”“表示”等,通常不接双宾语。如:
他对她表示了他的谢意。
误:He expressed her his thanks.
正:He expressed his thanks to her.
2. 有时可接反身代词作宾语,其意为表达自己的意思、思想、感情等。如:
Have I expressed myself clearly? 我的意思讲清了吗?
She expresses herself in good clear English. 她用清楚准确的英语表达自己的想法。
3. 其后一般不接 that-从句,但可接疑问词引导的从句。如:
I can’t express (to you) how grateful I am for your help. 你对我的帮助,我感激不尽。
他表示对我们的工作很满意。
误:He expressed that he was satisfied with our work.
正:He said that he was satisfied with our work.
正:He expressed himself (as) satisfied with our work.
▲用作形容词
express 用作形容词,表示“快的”“快递的”“直达的”等。如:
Please send this parcel by express delivery. 请用快递寄送这个包裹。
We caught the express train. 我们赶上了快车。
▲用作副词
express 用作副词,表示“用快件邮寄送”“乘快车(旅行)”等。如:
The parcel was sent express. 这包裹是用快邮寄的。
I don’t like to travel express. 我不喜欢乘快车旅行。
▲用作名词
express 用作名词,表示“快车”“快邮”“快运”等,为可数名词。如:
He came by the midnight express. 他乘午夜的快车来的。
有时表示“快递服务”“快递方式”,此时为不可数名词。如:
The letter was sent by express. 这信是用快件邮寄的。
