从句问题

这个应该是非正式文体吧，我在网页搜索中看到类似的句子是这样的-（he grabbed his suitcase and gave the impression he was boarding the Tokyo plane)正常情况下同位语从句是不可省的，只有做宾语从句中关系词作宾语可以省略。
