Lexical items can be generally understood to convey a single meaning, much as a lexeme, but are not limited to single words.我做简单化的理解，习得语言的时候把一些词当作一个单位来记忆的，这些词就是多词的词汇单位。怎么理解当做一个单位？比如send ... out into ...，母语者可能脑海里直接想到send ... out into ...，然后加上具体要说明的send的宾语和into的宾语就可以。母语者可能不会想，先send，send哪儿去？哦，out。然后……此外，out、into算是闭合词类，也更容易和动词组成词汇单位吧。野人献曝，聊供参考。
