答案是 whatever，老师解释说因为 the price 是名词所以直接填 whatever。

但如果说这个句子：The price is high. 这时便是主系表结构，就是 however 了呀

回答如下:

I will buy the car ,whatever the price is  (whatever 在让步状语从句作表语）

=I will buy the car , no matter what the price is .（no matter what在从句作表语）

中文翻译：不管这个价格是多少，我都会购买这辆汽车

中文翻译：我会买这两车，无论这个价格是多少.

如果改为high 就是下面这种结构了

I will buy the car, however high the price is .

=I will buy the car no matter how high the price is .

中文翻译（1）不管这个价格有多高，我都会买这辆车

中文翻译（2）我会买这辆车，无论这个价格有多高.

（特别备注：whatever 引导让步状语从句可以被no matter what 替换，但是引导名词性从句不可以被no matter what替换.)

Whatever详细用法可以归纳为下面两种用法

【一】whatever引导的名词性从句whatever的意思是“whatever所……的一切事或东西”，可视为what的强调说法，其含义大致相当于anything that，whatever 并在从句中可用作主语、宾语、,表语，定语。

【1】引导的名词性：

A.（宾语从句）

Do whatever she tells you and you’ll have peace.

她叫你干什么你就干什么，那你就太平了

I don’t believe in letting children do whatever they like.

我不赞成让孩子为所欲为

Goats eat whatever food they can find.

山羊找到什么食物就吃什么食物

Take whatever you want.

你想要什么就拿什么吧。

 B.（主语从句）

Whatever she did was right.

她所做的一切都是对的。

【二】whatever 引导让步状语从句，相当于no matter what，意思是“无论什么”，“不管什么”，whatever在从句中可作主语、宾语、表语或定语。

例：
A. whatever 在让步状语从句作主语

Whatever happens，you mustn’t lose your heart. 

=No matter what happens, you mustn't lose your heart.
无论发生什么事情，你都不要丧失信心。

B.在让步状语从句作宾语.
Whatever you do，do it well.

=No matter what you do, do it well.

无论你做什么事情都要把它做好。<作宾语> 

C.在让步状语从句作表语
Whatever I am，it is useful to know foreign languages. 

=No matter I am , it is useful to know foreign langauges
无论我干什么，懂几门外语总是有用的。<作表语>

D.在让步状语从句作定语
You have to go on whatever difficulties you meet. 

=You have to go on no matter what difficulties you meet.
不管遇到什么困难你都得进行下去。<作定语>

 Whatever he says, I will never believe him.

No matter what he says, I will believe him

无论他说什么，我绝不相信他.

Whatever有两个用法：

一是引导名词性从句（如主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句）,

二是用于引导让步状语从句.

例句：

Whatever she did was right. 她做的一切都是对的
I will do whatever you wish. 我可做任何你想我做的事.
Give them whatever they desire. 他们想要什么就给他们什么.
Whatever I have is at your service. 我所有的一切都由你使用.
You may do whatever you want to do. 无论你想做什么事,你都可以做.
