(1) more than one+单数名词+单数谓语

many a +单数名词+单数谓语； many a +n. and many a+n

More than one /many a +单数名词作主语，尽管意义上表示许多/很多，但其中心词为单数名词，谓语动词仍用单数形式.

You may find you have more than one strong learning styles ,which is a bonus

Many a scientist has been working on the project.

Many a student and many a teacher is watching an exciting basketball match.

【特别备注：more +复数名词+than one 作主语，谓语动词用复数.】

More members than one are against your plan.

(2) every /each +单数名词+单数谓语

And连接的并列主语时单数概念，且前面有every, each等词修饰时，谓语动词用单数形式.

Every student and every student needs dictionaries.

In our country, each boy and each girl has the right to receive education.
