employ、recruit、hire 这三个词表示“雇用”、“聘用”的区别：

    employ 常可与hire互换使用，但常用来指雇用某人做较长时间的工作或担任较重要的职位；有时也指并非初次雇用而是继续使用某人做某项工作。后接单宾语或复合宾语：前者通常是表示人的名词短语；后者由“名词短语+as短语/不定式短语 ”构成。The factory employs a total of 400 workers. [这家工厂总共雇用400名工人。] There are still more people employed in the textile than in computers. [纺织业雇用的人仍要比计算机行业的多。] We comployed her as our research assistant.  [我们聘用她当我们的研究助手。] She is comployed as a teacher. [她被录用为教师。] She was comployed to be a baby-sister. [她被雇来照看小孩。]

    recruit 主要表示招聘新职员或工人为雇主服务。宾语通常是表示人的名词或名词短语。She recruits executives for all the top companies . [她为所有一流的公司招聘行政管理人员。] Mothers and fathers could be recruited to help. [父母亲们可被请来帮忙。]  They set out to recruit a team of skilled workers available.[他们打算招聘一批合用的新技术人员。]

    hire 尤用于美国英语中。常指雇用挣工钱的而不是拿固定薪水的人；有时则表示雇用某人做某一项具体的或一次性的工作。后接单宾语或复合宾语：前者通常是表示人的名词短语；后者由“名词短语+不定式短语 ”构成。
