3 will of 的意思

We may think what we will of it now, but the song and the story, heard around the kitchen fire, have colored the thoughts and the lives of most of us, have given the germs of whatever poetry blesses our hearts, whatever of memory blooms in our yesterdays. Attribute whatever we may to the school and the schoolmaster, the rays which make that little day we call life, radiate from the God-swept circle of the hearthstone.

2. Attribute whatever we may 是部分倒装句，谓语只把实意词置前了？为什么要到装？

3. 最后一句the rays 前为何没有and，并列句中间为何没有and呢？

1. think what we will of it → think what we will 【think】 of it，will为助动词，后面承前省think。

2. attribute whatever we may → whatever / no matter what we may attribute，视作让步状语从句。这种倒装的让步从句可能在中古英语（Middle English）中就有，其特点是主要动词原形置于句首，平时比较熟悉的是固化的短语come what may。

3. 第二点也就解决了第三个问题，前面是从句，后面自然不用and。

4. 译文有个比较明显的问题是God-swept被看成了God-wept，好像在圣经里God也从来没哭过。

译文稍微改动了一下，仅供参考：

现在我们可以随意想象那时的场景，可从厨房壁炉旁听来的歌声和故事给我们当中绝大多数人的生活和思想增添了光彩，启迪我们用诗歌来滋养心灵，滋润回忆在过往中绽放花朵。现在人们把我们拥有的一切能力都归因于学校和老师，可是我们把过去的那些最平凡、最琐碎的日子叫做生活，那光芒都来自上帝扫过的围坐在炉边的往昔啊。

赞同张老师的解答，但对下一句，我的理解有所不同：

Attribute whatever we may to the school and the schoolmaster, the rays which make that little day we call life, radiate from the God-swept circle of the hearthstone.

我认为这是个祈使句，表示我们应该怎么做。attribute ...to... 是一个固定句式。attribute whatever we can, 这个句式类似于do whatever we can. the rays which... 引导定语从句，定语从句的基本句式是 which make sth radiate from.... that little day we call life 是make 的宾语，we call life 是定语从句修饰the little day. the rays which.... 属于名词结构，不是完整的句子。整个这部分是to的宾语，和 the school and the schoolmaster 并列。当然如果在schoolmaster 后的逗号后加个and 也可以，也许作者认为school 和schoolmaster为同一意群，所以中间用了and, 后面没有再重复and。

我在阅读时觉得动词radiate前逗号应去掉。后来我在网上找到1875出版的美国一家报纸 The Phoenix 刊载了这篇文章，在这样段，有两处标点是不同的，其中radiate 前就没有逗号，请看截图：

我把最后一句的翻译调整为：

把一切都归因于学校和老师，以及归因于我们称为生活的小日子从上帝眷顾的炉前所绽放的光辉。
