as they are是习惯用语吗？该怎么理解呢？是否由as it is变过来，表示“事实上，实际”吗？字典里标注in the present condition。两者都是对as it is的解释吗？

你抄错了句子。as前是没有逗号的。Desire to see things as they are, ... as比较分句作see的宾补。渴望看到事情的本来面目。
