much是代词还是副词

I forced myself to eat too much.

请问老师：句中的much是不是分析为代词和副词都正确啊？eat可以做及物和不及物动词。

我觉得把much理解为代词比较合适，将 too much 分析为 eat 的宾语。如果将其分析为状语，则只能是程度状语，表示“吃”的程度很深? 有点奇怪。
