关于 lost 用法与理解（新概念三第36课）

老师好！新概念三，36课，a chance in a million 里有一句话：

His unit was lost and all records of him had been destroyed. 他所在的部队被击溃，他所有的档案材料被毁于战火。

请教关于lost 这个词，应该怎么理解？

如果是动词 lose 的过去分词，那么这里就用的是被动式 the unit was lost, 部队被打败。为什么要用被动式呢？the unit lost 不可以吗？

如果是形容词，好像意思不对，lost 作为形容词是“丢失”的意思。

His unit was lost and all records of him had been destroyed.

备注(1):以上be lost 是及物动词lose(失去/丧失)被动结构表示”“失去/丧失”不是表示“被打败”，部队被敌人全歼灭导致失去了部队。

备注(2): lose表示打败/败给结构为A lose to B 意思“A败给/输给B”

England lost to Australia.英国队输给了澳大利亚队。

We lost to a stronger team.我们输给了一支实力更强的队。

【2】He lost his unit and all records of him had been destroyed.【主动结构】

The company has lost a lot of business to its competitors.

公司的许多生意都被对手夺走了。

备注(4): A lose me sth 意思A是某人输掉/失去某物

My own stupidity lost me the match.是我自己的愚蠢使我输掉了那场比赛。

His economic mismanagement has lost him the support of the general public.

他对经济的管理不善使他失去了广大民众的支持。

以上1/3/4及物动词用法，2为不及物动词用法。
